The influence of air pressure on ultrasonic welding

  • 2021-06-10
In ultrasonic welding, air pressure transmits ultrasonic vibration to the weldment through the sonotrode. Different materials determine the amount of pressure required during welding. Choosing an appropriate air pressure value has a very important impact on the welding result. The following editor will lead you to understand the effect of the lower air pressure on ultrasonic welding.

If the air pressure is too low, the ultrasonic vibration will not be well transmitted to the weldment, resulting in insufficient friction between the weldment and the welding surface, and a large part of the energy will be consumed on the sliding surface. The final result is Can not form an effective weld.

If the air pressure is too high, it will cause the vibration energy to be used unreasonably, resulting in excessive friction, weakening of the frictional movement between the weldments, and even affecting the amplitude. The result is the connection between the weldments. The area does not increase but decreases, and the strength of the solder joints will also decrease.

Therefore, when actually using the ultrasonic welding machine, it is recommended that you choose the pressure value according to the material of the product.
